Raw Food Cleanse – How am I faring?

Day 5 of my Raw Food Cleanse.  Overall, I’m feeling great. The only detox symptom I’ve had is a little bit of a nagging headache, most likely from caffeine withdrawal. The one snafu I’ve hit is that I need more calories than the base diet provides. I lost 4 pounds in 2 days and since I’m not trying to lose weight on this diet, I need to make some modifications. So, I’ve added a little bit of quinoa and yams. Obviously, these aren’t raw but at least they are plants so I’m staying in that part of the theme of the program.

I’ve observed a couple of things over the last week. First, I realize that my body really needs some animal protein. It does well on it. And, in fact, whenever I prep for a competition, I’m usually the one that is alternating between filet mignon and salmon every night for dinner while my competitors are eating white fish only.  My body responds well to meat, what can I say? Lol. So, once I’m finished with this week, I’ll continue most of the Raw Food Cleanse for another week, but I’m going to add in a little bit of organic chicken with my lunch.

The second observation I’ve made is how quickly my body has responded to this cleanse. My skin is fresher looking and I just feel healthy.  Since I typically eat about 90% clean, I didn’t have a lot of detoxing to do, which is probably why I feel mostly fine on this diet. Yet, just taking coffee, wine and the occasional chip out of my diet has made a difference. I can tell my body is happy, and that’s a great feeling.
